Gene McCarthy's Irish Pub: Home

Welcome to Gene McCarthy's Pub and Restaurant, 73 Hamburg Street, Buffalo, NY.

CONTACT NUMBER (716) 855-8948. An Old First Ward tradition in Buffalo, New York opened in 1963 by Eugene McCarthy and his wife Mary. Gene and Mary are now retired and the Pub is now in the capable hands of Gerhardt Yaskow, the present owner.

Often the pub has been called " The most authentic Irish Pub in all of Buffalo" by many who visit. There is a tradition of feeling very welcome here. Many Western New Yorkers have called this place an institution, and its a second home for many throughout the years. McCarthy's Pub is in the center of all the excitement for many events in the Old First Ward: The Gene McCarthy Social Club (SAC), The Shamrock Run, Old First Ward/Valley "Old Neighborhood" Saturday Parade, and more recently, the home of the Better Beverage Society. Our motto on life is: may you die in bed at 95, shot by a jealous Spouse!

Whether it be a party, get-together, catering need, or simply the need for a quiet meeting please, feel free to contact Gerhardt at the Pub for special rates. Please see the many pictures from St. Patrick's Day, and the Shamrock Run on these pages for your enjoyment and walk down memory lane....

McCarthy's Pub is also available for sponsoring sports teams, and various non-for-profit events held at the pub all year long. All kinds of parties are welcome, Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, etc. Lastly, remember to stop by on our weekly Fish-Fry-Fridays, not only for a great meal, but also for the opportunity to meet an old friend or two....
